Trivia Tuesday: Ronald McDonald House Charities Norfolk

In honor of today’s first video challenge, this Trivia Tuesday is dedicated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk, VA. Be sure to meet up with us tonight from 5-7 at the top secret McDonalds location that I will reveal later!

  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk (RMHC-Norfolk) was established to be a “Home Away From Home” for families who want to be near their child (age 21 and under) receiving medical treatment at one of the local hospitals.
  • The house was opened on December 10, 1981.
  • They benefit families by subsidizing the costs of overnight accommodations for families who otherwise would be forced to commute daily.
  • The three-story colonial style brick house was designed and decorated with the physical and emotional comforts of its guest in mind. Cheerful, yet subdued colors are used throughout the house and the large comfortable rooms provide a place for quiet retreat.
  • The House originally began with only eight bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, playroom and laundry facilities. To accommodate more families RMHC-Norfolk, added nine more bedrooms, increased the size of the kitchen, and added a playroom, boardroom, quiet room and handicap room in 2001.
  • RMHC-Norfolk is conveniently located adjacent to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters

The local house has supported over 13,000 families during thirty years in the Hampton Roads community. This year the Norfolk House invites you to GIVE 30 to celebrate the milestone anniversary.
